Happy Birthday Lego!

Happy Birthday Lego!

Sixty years ago today, the Lego brick was patented. Sometimes it seems like I’ve been stepping on them for longer than that. Those little bricks REALLY hurt on a bare foot. But when it comes to building things that stick together, Lego rules the world – at least the toy world.

The photo is a mechanized dragon built from the tiny knobby plastic blocks. (Some of you surely know where I’m going with this, right?)

Behavioral change is hard and it usually requires a plan. Building that plan isn’t always intuitive (and rarely requires Lego blocks. LOL!) The steps aren’t obvious and the experience of others can save you lots of headaches and re-work. (Remember that each ‘failed’ attempt holds a lesson, but too many ‘failures’ might convince you that your change isn’t possible.)
Build a solid plan. In addiction, we know that the plan needs to address five specific areas. If you don’t know about the five-headed dragon, BESOCHEMPS, get in touch with people who can teach you. BESOCHEMPS is just WAY more comprehensive and graspable than other addiction models or theories.

BESOCHEMPS takes an immense, amorphous, overwhelming enemy (addiction) and helps you sort it out so you can know where to start. ‘Just say no’ may technically be accurate advice, but has it worked so far? Let’s be honest – the ‘war on drugs’ had it’s chance. ‘Just say no’ is a tired, overly-simplistic, unrealistic approach to an incredibly complicated problem. It’s time for some new philosophies and new tools. BESOCHEMPS lets you know your foe so that you can fight smarter and win.

Know your foe’ beats ‘just say no’ every day of the week.
