Optimism
Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement.
Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.
– Helen Keller
If Helen Keller was right, nothing will be accomplished without optimism, hope, faith, and confidence. I’ve never seen any of those things for sale, which raises the question – where does one (how does one?) find these essential intangibles?
While they cannot be bought or sold, my guess is that they CAN be given away or more accurately, shared. I think I see it happen all the time. I have observed people “lending” hope and faith to folks who lacked. And in my experience, sharing one’s hope or confidence with another does not minimize the lender’s faith at all. In fact it may expand it a bit.
Maybe these intangibles are a sort of currency that will never be exhausted or depleted. At any rate, I think it is clear that we need to connect with others in ways that connect us to these invisible powers. So let’s think about the people and places that inspire us to be optimistic and hopeful. For these ‘banks of hope’ might allow us to spread our wings and truly soar!
