“The Power of Now”
Now is the right answer for lots of reasons. Let’s face it there’s never a convenient time to disrupt your life the way a solid quit attempt does. So let’s do it now and get it over with.
The sooner we do it, the sooner we can look back at it and realize that maybe it wasn’t actually as bad as we had feared it would be. LOTS of quitters state that their actual experience wasn’t as bad as they had expected! Come on, let’s go!
The sooner we take any small action step, the sooner we can start telling ourselves, “Hey, I’m getting pretty good at the quitting thing!” Every step gets us closer to our freedom. Every attempt moves us forward even if we slip up, because even a slip has a lesson to teach us.
The sooner we make a change, the sooner that change can start to become the new normal. There’s a new you – you 2.0 – waiting just around the corner! Let’s go find that clever rascal!
The sooner we make the change, the sooner we can stop feeling pressured by friends, family, and health care providers. And THAT means we can stop feeling guilty, weak, or foolish. NOTE: I don’t think you’re guilty, weak, or foolish, but I think you FEEL that way because you haven’t quit yet. DO IT NOW!
I believe in you because I have ushered thousands of brave souls on this journey. You – the collective you – have taught me the power of we, the power of hope, and the power of now. Thank you for teaching me so that I can encourage others.
