Small Steps Win the Race

Small Steps Win the Race

Especially at this time of year when lots of priorities are competing for our limited attention, it’s tempting to put our journey on hold. Don’t. Please don’t. Stepping off of the path – even momentarily – usually means sliding backwards. It reminds me of trying to run UP the DOWN escalator. It’s possible, but you must keep moving. The moment you stop, you’re moving backwards.

Maybe the season’s demands limit your effort for a few weeks, but please don’t let a week go by without setting at least a small, realistic goal. Keeping that momentum up can make the holidays less perilous. So ‘baby steps’ are fine, and they’ll keep us from having to climb out of a hole after the holidays. (You know I’m right.) 😉

Here’s how Martin Luther King may have said what I’m trying to say:

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do – keep moving forward.” http://ow.ly/i/B10qG
