Walls, Doors, and Missed Opportunities

Walls, Doors, and Missed Opportunities

“Don’t spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door”
~Coco Chanel

Some barriers are put in our path as a means of challenging us to try harder, or try again. Those barriers can make us stronger and wiser as we move forward. But some obstacles in our path may be there to direct our path in another direction. Those barriers serve to protect us from places we ought not venture. Only true wisdom will help us know which wall is there to make us better and which wall is keeping us safe.

Sometimes looking honestly at our motives can help (and consider sharing your ideas with a trusted friend, mentor, sponsor, or coach.) Passionately pursuing the things we want in life can surely bring meaning and purpose to life. However, there are times when ‘what we want’ may not be in our best interest! Consider what you ‘need’ versus what you want and choose wisely. I think Coco Chanel and Dalai Lama are on the same page about this one.

“Remember that not getting what you want is
sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.”
~Dalai Lama
