Lavender’s Lit!

Lavender is brilliant and (for me) she’s local, too! I’ve known her and her family for several years and I will acknowledge my personal bias. Lavender is lovely! You don’t need to agree, but I suspect that you will.

Lavender lives in Fitchburg, MA and was recently a contestant on America’s Got Talent. (TO BE CLEAR – I own NO rights to any of the content in these amazing videos. But they are too inspiring to not share!) Because of AGT she also attracted the attention of Jim and Margery on Boston Public Radio. Their interview below tells more of Lavender’s story and she shared a couple songs with them, too!)

I’m very content to allow Lavender to speak for and sing for herself. I think there are many messages of hope, compassion, and inspiration in the songs and stories below. Were I to sum up my clearest takeaway message, it would be this:

Lavender reminds us that not all barriers
are on our path to stop us.
In fact, most have the power to make us stronger, kinder, and even more grateful.

Here’s Lavender getting the “Golden Buzzer” to send her straight through to the finals in season 18 of America’s Got Talent!

Lavender Darcangelo receives the Golden Buzzer from Heidi Klum for her performance of “Out Here On My Own” by Irene Cara!

Heidi Klum’s Golden Buzzer Lavender Darcangelo returns to the stage with an emotional cover of “I Wanna Know What Love Is” by Foreigner.
From receiving the Golden Buzzer to performing on the finals stage, Lavender Darcangelo chases her dreams with this performance of “You Will Be Found” from Dear Evan Hansen.

Diane Warren has crafted beautiful and memorable songs with and for dozens of talented stars. (This CHART is stunning!) Lady Gaga, Michael Bolton, Beyonce, Cher, Mariah Carey, Steven Tyler and James Taylor, is a pretty stellar list and that just scratches the surface of her amazing work. The next video has Diane Warren accompanying Lady Lavender!

Here to perform “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” with Lavender Darcangelo is the song’s legendary writer, Grammy and Emmy winner, 14 time Oscar nominee and Honorary Oscar recipient Diane Warren.

I really loved listening to this interview and I think you will too. I think it’s clear that Lavender and Margery were absolutely enchanted by this beautiful chosen family. Maybe there’s another takeaway…

When doing hard things,
choose your squad carefully!

Lavender Darcangelo, a resident of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, has earned a spot in the “America’s Got Talent” finale on Sept. 26. Lavender and her fathers, Wil and Jamie Darcangelo, joined Boston Public Radio to talk about America’s Got Talent. They call host Simon Cowell ‘warm and fuzzy’ and say that they’ve made lifelong friends with other contestants. Lavender, who is blind and autistic, also shared the story of how her family came together. She gave an impromptu performance singing “Bridge Over Troubled Water” at 8:12 and sang a duet with her dad, Wil of “Over The Rainbow” at 16:18.

I hope that you found or made time to hear all that Lavender has to share here. And I have a feeling that we’re all going to be hearing a lot more from this lovely lady!

Stay awesome, brave and grateful (like Lavender!)
