“To Do or To Be?”
Some people say that Einstein said “In sanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” And whether it was Einstein or somebody else, there is a certain undeniable truth to that statement. It’s hard to argue with the logic. If we don’t change, we won’t change.
We say we want to change (stop smoking, quit drinking, stop eating junk food, exercise more) and we can list numerous benefits of changing. BUT… (there’s always a but, right?) … changing is hard for most of us.
Maybe instead of focusing on what we have to DO, (change – yikes!) we could try to think about who we want to BE. Do you want to stand out from the crowd, be remarkable, set a different example, or be independent? Being independent and different from the masses may sound virtuous and more appealing than the notion of changing. Who do you want to BE?
There are those who quietly follow the pack, think and DO what’s easy and familiar, AND ultimately get some very predictable results. But for those independent souls who dare to BE different and dare to break away from the pack, there is a path less traveled that will define you as brave, and more importantly, FREE! You deserve to BE FREE.
